PUBLIC DAY
Public Day at the SCGAA range is the first Sunday of every month. We welcome the public to come check us out and use our shooting facilities from 8:00 AM - 1:00 PM. The rifle, pistol and plinking ranges are available.
Public Day is offered as a free public service. All ranges are supervised by SCGAA Range Safety Officers which are NRA certified firearm safety instructors. The SCGAA facility is at 2400 Gun Range Road (off of Osceola Road) near Geneva, FL. - Please see our map.
While we strive to keep our range open at all times, there are the occasional closures due to weather or natural disaster (like wildfires). Please call our information phone line at 407-349-5152 to verify the range schedule beforehand.
NOTE:
All visitors are responsible for understanding and practicing the following safety regulations while on this Range. If you have a question, please ask a Range Safety Officer.
The following range safety rules must be followed on Public Day:
- All visitors must sign in before shooting or access to the ranges.
- NO full auto weapons firing during public hours (8:00 AM - 4:00 PM).
- All firearms must be unloaded with actions open & magazines removed when range safety officer calls cease fire.
- Firearms will NOT be handled during a cold range.
- NO tracer or exploding ammunition or exploding targets (fire hazard).
- NO shot larger than 7-1/2 on the shotgun range.
- All children must be directly supervised by a parent or guardian.
- Anyone continuing to behave in a manner deemed unsafe after being warned by a range safety officer will be asked to leave.
- When a firearm is not actively being used, it must be made safe: unloaded, action open or blocked, and the magazine removed.
- When moving with a firearm, keep it pointed straight up, unless it is made safe AND in a case.
- Keep all firearms pointed down range while on the firing line.
- Keep your finger off the trigger until your firearm is aimed at the target.
- Do not go forward of the firing line until instructed to do so.
- Do not handle any firearm or ammunition while anyone is down range.
- After returning from target set-up, stand behind the red line and wait for further instruction from a Range Safety Officer.
- Only one firearm per shooter is allowed on the firing line at a time.
- Juniors (age 17 and under) MUST be supervised by a non-shooting adult at ALL times.
- Only slow fire is permitted, except on the PLINKING RANGE.
- Quick draw firing is not permitted.
- No holstered firearms permitted on Public Day from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
- If you have a problem on the firing line, keep your firearm pointed downrange and raise your hand, a Range Safety Officer will be glad to help you.
- Please clean up your brass and trash; deposit in the proper containers.
- No one is allowed on the berms.
- The speed limit is 15 mph on all range roads.
- No photography of any type is permitted on Public Day between 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM unless
prior approval is provided by the Board.

SUNDAY FOOD SERVICE for Public Day
Food and drink service is available starting at 10 AM and includes pork BBQ, hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, and wide drink selection.
